String Along Ukulele is Elayne and Norm Ruplen and we are located in Dundas, Ontario, Canada. We have over 65 years of combined experience, teaching the ukulele to both children and adults. Our life long passion for the ukulele is still as strong as ever, especially during the current resurgence in popularity of the instrument. For the past several years we have been honing our skills and learning from the top ukulele teachers in the world, by attending the Portland Oregon Ukulele Festival as well as the International Ukulele Ceilidh in Nova Scotia.

And now, here’s a little about the String Along Ukulele teachers…

Elayne Ruplen

Elayne is pictured at the 2006 Portland Uke Fest with Canada’s own ukulele star of the stage entertainment, Ralph Shaw. Elayne has 36 years experience teaching primary children with the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board in Ontario and has her Vocal Music Specialist qualifications. She also trained with Canada’s leading ukulele expert, J. Chalmers Doane through numerous ukulele workshops over the years and recently, as well, with James Hill. Elayne has instructed over 2500 adults and extra-curricular ukulele students and has conducted many ukulele choir performances at events throughout the greater Hamilton area (Lincoln Alexander’s retirement, HWDSB inaugural reception, Ontario Music Educators’ Association Workshop, Ontario Place concerts). In 1993, Elayne was a finalist for the Reader’s Digest “Leadership in Education” award for work with ukulele groups for children. She is currently really enjoying String Along in her retirement.
